Ankara Implant Treatment

What is an implant?

Artificial tooth roots that will be replaced by teeth that are lost for various reasons and cause a lack of function are called implants. These artificial tooth roots are screws made of titanium alloy. The main task of the implant is to replace the missing tooth root and restore the lost mouth and tooth function. In this way, an implanted tooth is obtained that can be used like a natural tooth without damaging the bone tissue.

Who Is Implant Treatment Applied to?

In order for the implant treatment to be successfully applied, it is very important that the patient has completed bone development and that the jaw structure is appropriate. If the jawbone development is not completed, this problem can be resolved with various pretreatments and implant treatment can be started.

Implant treatment is also possible for patients using fully removable prostheses. Implant treatment can also be performed in cases where there are no teeth in the mouth. If there is no obstacle caused by the jawbone, implant treatment can be started on the same day, if any, after the bone formation process. In this way, the use of removable dentures ends and you can have much more useful, natural-looking teeth.

Patients with chronic diseases should definitely inform the specialist dentist and get permission from their doctor before implant treatment.

Who Is Implant Treatment Applied to?

Implant treatment; is a solid, comfortable and reliable dental treatment method. Prostheses made on implanted teeth replace real teeth and create the most natural structure. While the missing teeth are being completed, the healthy teeth of the person are not touched.

Can the Implant be Applied at Any Age?

There is no age limit for implant treatment.

  • Since the person must have completed bone development for implant treatment, this process must be completed in young people, which is completed until the age of 16-17 in girls and 18 in boys.
  • There is no upper age limit for implant treatment for adults. Individuals of all ages with suitable general health status can have implant treatment.

How Long Does the Implant Treatment Take?

The duration of implant treatment varies from patient to patient. Because after the implant is placed, it should be expected to settle in the jawbone and ossify in that area. Although the common time is 2-3 months, the specialist dentist will determine the most accurate time and advance the treatment.

Why Implant Treatment?

Implant treatment is actually an alternative treatment method to traditional prosthesis treatment. However, it has very distinct advantages compared to traditional prosthetic applications.

Prosthetic teeth placed with implant treatment create a much more natural appearance than traditional dentures. In this way, the person gets a much more aesthetic and non-artificial smile.

Since a tooth root is not applied in traditional prostheses, damage to the jawbone can be prevented with the load on the jaw bones over time. Because the implant, which acts as a tooth root, meets the pressure during chewing and protects the jawbone. In other words, dry food can be consumed much more easily after implant treatment and speech function is not impaired.

How to Care for the Implant?

After the implant treatment, the person’s oral and dental care will be maintained for life. The oral and dental care that should be done after the implant treatment is not different from the routine unless the specialist dentist has a different recommendation; Regular brushing, flossing and specialist dentist checks are sufficient.

What is an Implant?

Implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium, which are used in the treatment of missing teeth and placed in the jawbones. The implant acts as a tooth root and allows you to perform your daily activities (such as speaking and eating) like a natural tooth. It also allows you to achieve an ideal smile aesthetic especially in the anterior teeth areas.

How are Teeth Made on Implants?

After implants, dental prostheses are made on the implants according to the planning of your doctor. While a single coating is applied on the implants made after a single tooth loss, bridges or larger prostheses can be made on the implants in cases where many teeth are lost.

What are the Advantages of Implant Treatment?

The advantage of implant treatment over other treatments is that it does not damage the adjacent teeth. As in bridge treatments, there is no need to cut the adjacent teeth. Instead, prosthesis is made only on the implants placed in the tooth cavity. As a result of long-term missing teeth, melting of the jawbone may occur. Implant treatments significantly prevent these meltdowns. Missing teeth can also cause shifts and displacements in neighboring teeth. In the long term, these can lead to deterioration of chewing function, elongation of the teeth towards the teeth in the opposite jaw, and jaw joint problems. Implant treatment is the most effective treatment option in preventing these problems. It is a treatment method that can imitate your missing teeth in the most ideal way.

How is Implant Treatment Applied?

After the evaluation of the general health status of the patients who apply with the complaint of tooth deficiencies, intraoral examinations and radiographic examinations, it is decided whether the patient is suitable for treatment. Thanks to these examinations, the bone structure and gums in the area where the implant will be applied are evaluated. Before the implant treatment, the most suitable size implants for the jawbone are selected based on the x-rays and tomographies taken. In completely sterile environments, the procedure can be performed with local anesthesia or general anesthesia according to the wishes of the patients. As a result of these evaluations, if the bone and gingival structure is suitable, implant treatment is started, if it is not suitable for implant construction, the area is made suitable for the implant with bone powders or bones from our patient. The fact that the person has a general health problem does not usually constitute an obstacle in terms of implant treatment. Implant treatments are generally simple surgical procedures performed in sterile environments. Patients can have their implants done in short treatment sessions. Treatment begins with numbing the application area. These implants are placed in your jawbone with a minor surgical procedure by dentists. Very little swelling and pain may occur after the operation, and our patients are prescribed antibiotics, painkillers and mouthwashes. The fusion of the bone and the implant takes an average of 3 months. Depending on the operation, this process may be shortened or prolonged. However, this process may be longer in patients with insufficient jawbone and bone thickening with various methods such as bone powder. When the implants and the bone are completely fused, the prosthesis is made.

Who can be treated with implants?

Implant treatment can be applied to anyone over the age of 18 who has completed their jaw and face development. Before the treatment, the jaw structure is evaluated by imaging methods such as x-ray and tomography to see whether it is suitable for the implant. The person’s general health problem does not usually constitute an obstacle in terms of implant treatment.

What is implant / immediate implant/ and prosthesis in a single session?

The implant placed in the same session after tooth extraction is called an immediate implant. If the bone in the area to be implanted is healthy, if there is no bone loss due to abscesses, the tooth can be extracted and implanted immediately. In this way, we both gain time and protect the bone from melting. In some cases, prostheses can also be made immediately after the implant is made. In order to do this, the bone and the implant must be perfectly fused during the surgery, and it can rarely be done for aesthetic areas.

What should be considered during implant treatment?

Patients should pay close attention to their oral hygiene after treatment. After the treatment, they should follow the recommendations of their doctors.

How long is the life of the implant application?

There are many factors that determine the life of the implant application. Factors such as the experience of the dentist applying the implant treatment, the oral and dental health of the person who will have the implant, and whether the patient smokes or not determines the life of the implant application. If the person does not pay attention to their oral and dental health, the implant application will not be long-lasting. The implant application, which is applied by experienced dentists under sterile and appropriate conditions, can be used for many years.

Are there any harms to the implant?

Titanium used in the construction of implants is a metal compatible with tissues. It is not an allergen and there is no evidence that it causes cancer.
